A Catalogue of Art & Design Apparel by Loretta Faveri
In my Professional Practice class, we were asked to create a catalogue of our commercial work and any other work that would be relevant to it. During my last two semesters at OCADU, I have been dabbling in apparel items. Some of my pieces, like the Active Linen tank top, are for commercial production whereas the others have been created as art objects with production potential. You can view the catalogue by clicking on the tab above.
Active Linen goes to School - Event Photos
Just thought I'd show some pictures of Active Linen's visit to OCADU. The "Material Girls" show was a great success and we all had a great time.

Welcome to Active Linen
You are about to join me on my quest to clothe people in sustainable fabrics and contemporary designs.
Flax seed is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acid and fibre, two essential ingredients that help keep you strong and healthy. What people often forget, is that when Flax seeds are planted, they produce bast fibres that can be spun and woven into Linen cloth. Linen is a sustainable product that is less damaging to the environment than Cotton.
As a garment, Flax has the ability to wick moisture away from the body better than any other natural fibre and will keep you cool and dry during hot humid weather and physical activities. The cloth is very strong, particularly when it is wet and can be machine-washed. The Active Linen tank top was made to celebrate this wonderfully useful seed; a seed we tend to take for granted.
If you'd like more information about flax as a sustainable alternative to cotton and polyester, read this article by Rosalie Marion Bliss, Agriculture Reasearch Services Information Staff, United States Department of Agriculture. http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/ar/archive/nov05/fiber1105.htm
